Many types of orthodontic treatments are available today. However, clear aligners are the only treatment that can give you a better-looking smile without metal or brackets on your teeth. Bella Smiles at Nesconset provides Invisalign® clear aligners.
Invisalign is the number one clear aligner system because of the predictable results you get. This popular treatment is available to our teen and adult patients. We also offer general dental services in addition to providing clear aligners to our patients. Most patients will qualify for our clear aligners.
Are You a Candidate for Invisalign?
As technology progresses, the Invisalign invisible aligners can accomplish simple straightening procedures and correct bigger issues. However, they just do not offer the same force as braces. To determine if you qualify, you will need to schedule a consultation at Bella Smiles. Your dentist will examine your teeth to see if this treatment is right for you.
We do warn parents that young patients should be able to properly care for their clear aligners. The patient will need to clean them often and take them out to eat and perform daily oral hygiene. Therefore, it is possible to easily lose them.
Teens and adults can use clear aligners to treat many orthodontic issues, including:
- Crooked Teeth
- Crowded Teeth
- Overbite
- Underbite
- Crossbite
- Gap Teeth
- Open Bite
Benefits of Invisalign
Choosing invisible aligners to treat your orthodontic issue has its benefits. First, our adult patients appreciate avoiding the stigma of wearing braces. Second, our teen patients love that they get to avoid the embarrassment of wearing metal braces. You can remove the clear aligners so that you can eat and drink whatever you like.
You can also properly care for your teeth by removing them to brush and floss twice a day. When compared to other treatments, Invisalign clear aligners are much more comfortable. Most importantly, they are clear. Most people will not even notice you have them in.
How Does Invisalign Work?
The Invisalign clear aligner system uses a series of custom made aligners. The aligners are ultra clear and made of a hard-soft plastic. They are thin yet super durable. First, we will take 3D images of your teeth.
Then we will send these images to the Invisalign lab to create a set of aligners that will fit perfectly against your teeth. Each set of aligners will gently shift your teeth into the desired position. You will wear each set for about one to two weeks before moving on to the next set.
You must wear your Invisalign aligners for at least 20-22 hours a day for the best results. Patients should only remove them to eat and for daily oral hygiene. When you finish eating or drinking dark liquids, you should brush your teeth, or at least rinse, before putting the aligners back in.
The severity of your condition and your cosmetic goals determines your treatment time. However, most patients achieve the results they want in about a year. Straightening your teeth using our Invisalign process is easy.
Will the Invisalign aligners change the way I speak?
The aligners are easy to adjust to and will likely not change the way you speak. You will be able to speak regularly within a couple of days after getting your first set of aligners.
However, it is possible for some patients to have a temporary lisp. Regardless, you must continue to keep wearing them. Your speech will get better as you adjust.
How do I take care of my aligners?
Keeping your aligners clean and safe is important and can be easy. A simple way to wash them is to do it when you brush and floss your teeth. Simply brush them gently with your soft-bristled toothbrush and non-abrasive toothpaste. Then rinse them, and put them back in your mouth.
When you need to remove the aligners, put them in a safe place so you do not lose them. Additionally, you must avoid hot water coming in contact with them. This can alter the way they fit and warp them.
