Benefits of Invisalign

Invisalign comes with many benefits over traditional metal braces. Patients who use Invisalign can look forward to these benefits:

  • Improved self confidence. Achieving a straighter smile can help you feel more confident in your smile and improve your overall self-esteem.
  • They can help improve your oral hygiene. Patients can remove their aligners to brush, floss, and rinse their teeth properly.
  • No dietary restrictions. Patients can remove their aligners to eat their favorite foods.
  • Clear aligners are a discreet way to straighten your teeth. The Invisalign lab will create the aligners using clear plastic, which makes your treatment as discreet as ever before.
  • Our Invisalign dentist creates your aligners using advanced CAD/CAM technology, which ensures they fit comfortably in your mouth. You will receive your first set of aligners during your visit, but we will mail all future sets to you. That means fewer visits to the dentist office!

About the Invisalign Treatment Process

The Invisalign process is actually pretty simple. The process will begin with taking digital impressions and a scan of your teeth and jaw. We use CAD/CAM software to create a fully customized treatment plan.

The software allows us to show you what your smile will look like by the end of your treatment! The Invisalign lab will also use these images to fabricate your custom aligners. But first, we need to determine of you are a good candidate for Invisalign. We will conduct a dental exam and create a treatment plan.

Next, our dentists will send your treatment plan to the Invisalign lab. The lab will create your custom Invisalign system with our measurements. Then they will send us the first set for you to try.

We will call you back into our office when we receive them, and go over the instructions together. We will show you how to place the aligners over your teeth, and how often to use them. You should wear them for 22 hours a day. This is also a great time to ask us any questions before moving on to the next set.

During treatment, you will replace the aligners about every two weeks to slowly reposition your teeth. You will visit with us periodically during your treatment so we can check your progress and oral health.

You can remove them to eat and continue your normal oral hygiene routine. The length of your treatment depends on the number of aligners and the severity of your crooked teeth. Some severe malocclusion issues will need traditional braces to fix.

Invisalign FAQs

How does Invisalign treatment straighten teeth?

Invisalign treatment involves wearing clear aligners for 22 hours every day. Each set will apply force to your teeth to move them closer into proper alignment. Your dentist will create a plan that will map out your teeth movement from beginning to end.

What is the best way to clean my aligners?

Most patients brush their Invisalign and rinse them with warm water. We recommend that you clean your aligners after eating or drinking. Be sure not to wash them with hot water as it can change the shape of the aligners and warp them.

Why Choose Invisalign Over Braces?

Invisalign has many benefits over braces. Both serve the same purpose; to straighten a crooked bite, but they function in different ways. Invisalign is clear and nearly invisible to the naked eye. While braces have easily visible bulky metal brackets and wires.

Invisalign is removable which is a major benefit. This allows our patients to be able to eat however they would like to. They can also better clean their teeth than those who have to work around the brackets and wires of braces.

Is it okay to not wear Invisalign for a day?

We strongly recommend you wear your Invisalign aligners 22 hours per day, every day. Follow all instructions to ensure that your teeth do not shift back into their crooked positions. We do not recommend missing one day of wearing your aligners. While it will not cause harm, it may make your treatment take longer to complete.

Can you drink coffee through a straw with Invisalign?

We advise patients with Invisalign to avoid drinking any colored beverages with their aligners in. Dark beverages can stain the aligners. Patients may drink dark beverages through a straw for the same purpose. Patients should brush their teeth and always rinse their aligners after drinking a staining beverage like coffee.

Will dental insurance cover the cost of Invisalign?

Whether dental insurance will cover the cost of Invisalign depends on your specific insurance plan. Some dental insurance plans may partially cover the cost of orthodontic treatment, including Invisalign. While others may not cover it at all.

Additionally, dental insurance plans often have waiting periods, deductibles, and maximum coverage limits. All these factors can further affect the insurance coverage for Invisalign.
